Early start for harvest 2017, on August 14th: this date will remain in our history as the earliest vintage for Lungarotti!
The abnormal season has surely anticipated the cycle of ripening of the plant.
The first grapes in the cellar (Chardonnay and Pinot grigio) were rich in concentration and with good acidity – and thus excellent freshness – which we could maintain thanks to the irrigation of our vineyards. In the last week of August, the Merlot grapes were harvested in Torgiano and, a few days later, in Montefalco. We expect to proceed between the end of August and the beginning of September with the harvest of Grechetto.
Overall, the first part of the harvest confirms, as expected, a production considerably lower than in 2016, but with the advantage of harvesting in dry periods that ensure perfectly healthy grapes and excellent concentration.
