PROGETTO 1962

A return to the origins to look to the future by bringing the “Slow Life” of Umbria to the world
There comes a time in the journey of every family business when you feel the need to look in the mirror. For Lungarotti, the historic company of Torgiano, this moment arrived in 2024. This is when the Progetto 1962 was born, which takes its name from the first vintage of Rubesco and Torre di Giano, the two iconic labels of Lungarotti, revisited in form and substance. The new Rubesco 62 and Torre di Giano 62 are distinguished by a more flowing, fresh, immediate and transversal tasting style, designed to tell the story of Umbria and its character through wines that have marked the company from its origins but are perfectly current. Wines obtained from vines resilient to climate change, such as Sangiovese and Trebbiano, which see a slightly early harvest and a vinification whose care aims to express the land of origin at its best. The change is accompanied by a new design inspired by the first labels of the 60s. The contemporary story combines memory and vision, roots and ambition.
“Progetto 1962 is just the beginning of a strategic plan that aims to bring Umbria and its slow lifestyle to the world,” explains Chiara Lungarotti, CEO of the company. “A journey made of concreteness, elegance, authenticity and connection with the territory. As interpreters of a unique region, today we feel the duty and pride to represent it. And we do it with what best tells us: timeless wines, capable of speaking to the present while challenging the future.”
