     The year 2012 marks an important, two-fold birthday. Lungarotti celebrates its transformation from farm to winery and the birth of Rubesco, its iconic red. This wine, “50”, is being released in 2012 in its first, exclusive edition to mark the double celebration and bear witness to Lungarotti’s ongoing research and innovation. Nature, terroir, experimentation and viticultural selection are the backbone of this extremely charming and unique blend.

    Grape varietals

    Sangiovese; double spurred cordon pruning; harvest between end of September and early October

    Vinification

    Stainless steel fermentation with 25 days of skin maceration; refined one year in barrique and 2 months in bottle following a light filtration

    Food pairings

    An elegant and complex red for long aging, with a pleasantly spicy finish, it is excellent with roasts, game, either stewed or in “salmì”; white and red meats, barbecued foods and cheeses. Serve at 16-18°C (61-64°F)

    An exclusive edition to celebrate the half-century mark: it’s not a coincidence, therefore, that 1962 magnums were produced. “50” bears the history of the future: the vision of Giorgio, the founder, and the enthusiasm and passion of all of us who now continue his mission. It proudly displays the power and elegance of a young adult.
