Decante World Wine Awards 2008: Lungarottii Aurente wins Bronze Medal

The Decanter World Wine Awards - the most influential wine competition in the world - attracted over 9000 entries from all continents for its 2008 edition. Lungarotti Aurente was honoured with a prestigious Bronze Medal, adding another important prize to the company's rich collection of awards.

15 September 2008: The Lungarotti Biomass Project is now a reality

Achieving energy independence utilizing organic matter discarded during the various viticultural processes: it was with this goal in mind that the Lungarotti Group embarked on a collaborative research effort with the University of Perugia's Centro Ricerca sulle Biomasse (CRB) department. An innovative project that strove to design and build a pilot installation capable of recapturing energy from the discarded material of the vine pruning process, a technique which finds its first practical application in Europe at the Lungarotti site.
The project, now completed, will be presented to the public on September 15th at 16:00 in the Lungarotti winery in Torgiano. Professor Franco Cotana of the CRB will illustrate the various phases of the program with a detailed technical brief, after which the energy conversion boiler will be powered up. The inauguration ceremony will include a tour of the entire energy production chain, and will be attended by numerous influential members of local institutions such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Confagricoltura.
