The 2016 harvest has begun on August 22nd and as always, this is a very exciting moment for us! The first grapes picked are those destined for producing our sparkling wines bases (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Grigio); the vintage appears to be very promising, since we have not recorded torrid temperatures nor water deficits in the past month.

The large minimum-maximum temperature ranges experienced in the past few weeks have slowed down grape ripening while maintaining very fresh acidity, ideal conditions for producing our vintage Lungarotti Brut and our white wines.

At this time the grapes appear to be in optimal health; additionally, the abundant ventilation and dry climate are preserving the vegetation from any late attacks of illness.

We have subsequently harvested the Chardonnay grapes for L’U Bianco and Brezza, as well as those for Aurente, which present balanced ripening with a good aromatic concentration.

This year, Aurente is the only reserve white wine we will be producing, due to the spring frost which damaged Vigna Il Pino.

Next week we will begin picking Vermentino and the Sangiovese grapes for our rosé wines.
